Every Sunday, we turn the spotlight on some great creatives. This week, we have Jenica Lodde!

Jenica is a major depressive disorder having, suspected ADHD, frenetic creative wannabe farmer. Her poetry has been published in io, SWWIM, The Scop, Gravel, and more. She has a collection of poetry available, “Emotional States” (2020), and an upcoming book, “Go My Own Way” — a collection of poems based on her childhood as the daughter of a Manson/Kerouac hybrid father. She is currently working on a collection of poems about flowers, as well as a second memoir.

Jewelry making is another of Jenica’s passions. Inspired by the floral and nature patterns in Japanese paper, she twists wires into shapes, which she then fills with the paper and coats with non-toxic, environmentally friendly resin, resulting in bold, vibrant, nature-inspired accessories that feel completely weightless.

Jenica also makes dresses out of deadstock fabric. Motivated by her love of fashion and her desire to reduce waste, Jenica dusted off her childhood sewing skills and learned how to make clothes that are cute, fun, and functional. She’s always looking for everyday dresses that are versatile to be worn at home, socializing, or at work. She keeps all these things in her mind in her clothing line. Her first couple dresses didn’t have pockets, but all of her recent creations do have that necessary component!

You can find Jenica’s creation at On&On Marketplace on Capouse Ave in Scranton, or, on her Etsy page www.JewelrybyJenicaLodde.etsy.com. You can also follow her on Instagram and Twitter.
