Every Sunday, NEPA Creative turns the spotlight on some awesome creatives. This week, we have La’Quitia Denson!

The beauty of humanity and the fleeting tender moments of romance have always captivated photographers. A moment gone in the blink of an eye is forever preserved and revealed through the work of a lens and the person behind it. Whether a portrait session or a wedding, it’s something to be absolutely passionate about.

La’Quitia Denson of Beyond the Pond Photography is just that — passionate. The name of her business is actually inspired by the fact that she was born abroad in Germany. Her father is a US Army Veteran and her mother is from Panama. As a child, she moved to the states, living out most of her years growing up in West Chester, Pennsylvania. She moved to Newark, Delaware in 2008 where she found her love for photography. After being an assistant to a well-recognized photographer in the area and then later going on to be her second shooter, La’Quitia leaped out into her own business in 2016.

In 2017 she moved here to NEPA, residing in Wilkes-Barre and reestablished her business. Since then, she’s captured beautiful weddings and wholesome portraits, both rippled with beautiful candid moments. Nikon is her brand of gear, but she wants folks to know it’s not the camera that makes the image — it’s the person behind it. Sharing a whole new perspective where folks see a memory in a way they only imagined is one of the reasons she loves doing what she does. Making a difference in someone’s life with something that some folks may see as a simple picture is something to treasure for a lifetime.

Having support is extremely important and she’s found it in her boyfriend Rey and her friends, clients turned friends and family. She has worked with Northeastern Pennsylvania Pet Fund and Rescue and has an Adopt Don’t Shop series. Not only is Beyond the Pond LGBTQ+ friendly, but La’Quitia is also a part of the community! She’s not only excited to see what this wonderful area has to offer, but all the folks in it, too!
