Every Sunday, we turn the spotlight on some great creatives. This week, we have Nick Jablonski!

Nick works at Holly Label Company as a Business Development Manager and has 20+ years of experience in graphic design which includes packaging design, marketing, and advertisement production.

Ever since Nick was little he has always had a passion for art and computers. In high school, he attended every art class and computer programming course he could. Once he noticed his love for it, he felt like graphic design was the best choice for his career. He graduated from Marywood University with a BFA in Graphic Design and started his career making ads for newspapers, magazines, and phone books.

Nick’s marketing work includes planning and participating at trade shows to meet and speak to potential clients. He also designs marketing materials for advertising, including postcards and presentations. In regards to his prepress responsibilities, he prepares artwork for flexographic printing and manufactures printing plates for press production. Outside of work, he spends his free time sketching, painting, and making digital art.

Nick’s creative process starts with brainstorming. He always collects information on whichever subject he is creating and begins to loosely sketch ideas. After examining his notes, he streamlines ideas to create the final product. Form following function is my top priority.

He draws inspiration from a long list of artists he studies and follows. He likes to incorporate visits to art galleries and outdoor hikes when he travels. He always brings a sketchbook wherever he goes to write down notes and scribbles.

To Nick, being creative means utilizing it as an outlet and as an opportunity to learn. He has learned long ago that creativity must be self-driven and leads to personal and professional growth.
