Every Sunday, we turn the spotlight on some great creatives. This week, we have Kristin Sepela, owner of The Not So Basic Batch!

Kristin is the baker behind the yellow mixer covered in dough, icing, and her favorite, sprinkles! She always loved baking, but never really knew how much until the magic was released from her heart one snowy night in December, when she took out her great grandmother’s old rolling pin, some hand-me-down cookie cutters, and rolled out a magical sheet of Christmas sugar cookies. The smell of sweet sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and pine swept the room as Kristin created those sugar cookies in that magical kitchen covered in flour with joy in her heart.

This is the life she yearned to live: bringing a creative space into her soul, while spreading happiness to all those around her.

This experience was one of pure magic. One filled with love, warmth, and gratitude. Kristin knew she was gifted at that moment and couldn’t turn back. This is how The Not So Basic Batch, a cottage bakery, was brought to life right in her cozy kitchen in Luzerne.

When Kristin isn’t creating magic in the kitchen, you can find her adventuring with her family, seeking peace and inspiration through meditation, and always adding to her ever growing crystal collection.
