Every Sunday, NEPA Creative turns the spotlight on some awesome creatives. This week, we have Rashida Lovely of Newave Studios!

Rashida is the owner of Newave Studios, NEPA’s first black-owned multi arts and science studio! They offer hip hop, contemporary, African and cirque dance along with an intense STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) program for children and adults.

Rashida has been teaching in Scranton for about six years. She teaches dance, art and science to underprivileged children and families in the community. In the fall, she teaches art and dance, and in the summer she teaches a very intense STEAM program which consists of computer programming, structural engineering, robotics and horticulture.

Rashida recently moved the studio to a new location called the Africa Freedom Mall on 1818 Jackson St in Scranton. This location will serve as a cultural, economic and entrepreneurship hub for the African and African American community.
