Every Sunday, NEPA Creative turns the spotlight on some awesome creatives. This week, we have Stephanie Stelmach-Molski of SugarBritches Studios!
Stephanie is an artist living and working in Luzerne, PA.
She’s been creating art for as long as she can remember, creating her first oil painting when she was 8 years old. Since then, she has been spending her lifetime trying to find her own voice. To accomplish this mission, Stephanie created SugarBritches Studios. SugarBritches Studios is a woman-owned business that was created with the goal of finding the balance between whimsical and creepy. The studio was founded as an outlet to express her true self and eccentrism without apologizing.
Stephanie is a specialist in two different genres: abstract painting and grotesque charcoal. She wanted to create a way to combine these two techniques by using different mediums — which usually resulted in failure. Her process typically begins by sketching a friend, which she’ll eventually turn into a monster, or by painting the dozens of colors she sees in a particular item.
Inspiration is always around Stephanie, but she mainly finds ideas through horror and the macabre. So much so, that her second date with her husband was at a cemetery.
Creativity to Stephanie is being able to express the world as she sees it. She wholeheartedly believes in living your life in a way that’s loud, bold, and unapologetic. You can follow Stephanie and SugarBritches Studios on Facebook and Instagram, and visit her store on Ebay.
