Every Sunday, we turn the spotlight on some great creatives. This week, we have Shelby Luxenberger!
Shelby is a stay-at-home mom and self-taught resin artist, owner of Dear Universe Resin. She resides in Turbotville, PA with her husband, daughter, and 2 cats and enjoys traveling, hiking, and good day of self care.
Ever since she was young, Shelby loved creating. When the pandemic hit in 2020 and she found herself at home, she became interested in adopting a new hobby. While scrolling one day, she came across a resin video and immediately became interested. She ordered supplies and began her resin journey.
Shelby loves to play with colors, flowers, and crystals in her work. The night sky and forest floor inspire her while her art constantly evolves. She describes her work as, “A little rock and roll, a little witchy, and a little whimsical.”
Her creative process relies on color. Shelby enjoys combining different alcohol inks, mica powders, flowers and crystals. Sometimes, she’ll even pair different styles together, such as florals with stars.
To Shelby, being creative is a beautiful vulnerability and about expressing yourself to the world. “This is me, being me.”
