Every Sunday, we turn the spotlight on some great creatives. This week, we have Morgan Jackson!
Morgan Jackson is a landscape painter with a great love of nature. As a new mom of a nine-month old, she’s trying her best to paint during nap times.
Her journey started in high school, where her passion for landscape painting came from a tough teacher. On one project, the teacher gave Morgan a 100+ and encouraged her to keep practicing and appreciating the world around her. This propelled Morgan into refining her skill.
Her paintings have a whimsical feel to them, and from a distance can look like a photograph. However, when you get close you notice the flowing brushstrokes and array of colors that don’t always exist in nature.
Long drives, music, and the search for beautiful scenes are captured in Morgan’s paintings. She takes tons of pictures to catch the right view of the way she sees things, takes those back to her studio, and gets to work.
Weird trees, strange lighting, and colorful skies are some of the inspirations behind her work and swamps. Morgan LOVES swamps!
To her, being creative is finding beauty in the world around her and translating it through her art. It’s her way of giving back to the environment.
