Every Sunday, we turn the spotlight on some great creatives. This week, we have Michaela Sorton!
Michaela, a growing artist from Milford, PA, artistically goes by MX, or mxkkxx. Her artist name stems from her nickname Mikki with some added style to it.
Michaela always had a passion for art when she was young, but her interest in it really grew after high school. She studied fine arts at Sussex County Community College, then finished at East Stroudsburg University with a bachelor’s degree. Throughout her college years, her work was entered into a few exhibitions and solo events to help grow her creativity. She is currently working on being a solo artist by working on commissions, collaborating with other artists, and selling paintings and drawings.
Michaela primarily paints and draws, focusing on surrealistic ideas. She describes her work as dream-like and “a bit wild with colors.” She is known for her “Eye Candy” paintings that she uses throughout her work. She enjoys a creative presence on social media, so she focuses her business on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and her own website.
When Michaela starts her paintings, she always likes to choose which colors she’s going to use before she begins. She works on a few paintings throughout the week so she has options to choose what she posts on her social media. While working, she enjoys posting her progress on her Instagram story. She posts weekly, from Tuesdays through Thursdays.
Michaela says that listening to other creative artists on YouTube while she paints her own works inspires her. It helps to energize her creative drive. Being creative is what makes her feel true to herself.
