Every Sunday, we turn the spotlight on some great creatives. This week, we have Kelly McAndrew!
Kelly is a self-taught artist from Factoryville and the face behind Freeloop Art. She is currently a full-time student at Luzerne County Community College, majoring in audio and video communications. Growing up, she always had a variety of creative outlets, but her favorites were filming and editing videos, photography, painting and drawing.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Kelly found herself with a bit of free time. She began to dabble in the art of acrylic pouring. She was instantly mesmerized by the psychedelic color patterns that she poured onto the canvas in front of her. She fell in love with the freedom behind every piece and how each one was unique in its own way. Eventually, Kelly started to experiment with acrylic pouring on surfaces other than canvases such as wood, jewelry boxes, and necklace pendants.
She loves to experiment and try new things with her art, and that’s why this medium is right for her.
