Every Sunday, NEPA Creative turns the spotlight on some awesome creatives. This week, we have Hedy Schneller of illumia!
illumia is a local, women-owned enterprise with a mission to design and produce unisex skin care products whose value derives from quality products versus products which rely on high cost and high profile marketing.
illumia’s products were created by Hedy Schneller, a healthcare provider. Hedy started making simple products for friends and family for several years. Given the unique circumstances of the pandemic, she knew it was time that she shared these products with those of us whose skin has suffered because of frequent washing and continual mask wearing.
The first product illumia created was their whipped body butter. It is a clean and simple butter using 4 ingredients that is designed to seal in skin moisture. The illumia team whips their butter and the sensory experience of applying it is luxurious. Their second product, illumia serum, was formulated to promote faster skin cell replenishment , soothe inflammation, and pull moisture from deeper skin cell layers. It works in tandem with the body butter. Their newest product is the illumia foot rescue. The foot rescue exfoliates, softens, heals and moisturizes as well as provides antifungal and antibacterial benefits. It is developed in collaboration with their podiatrist.
illumia’s philosophy is to keep their ingredients local, fresh, simple and healthy. The team strives to package their products in materials that their customers can upcycle to minimize their carbon footprint. As they grow, their goal is to focus on hiring underemployed women in our community .
