Every Sunday, NEPA Creative turns the spotlight on some awesome creatives. This week, we have Brady Dempsey!
Brady Dempsey is a self-taught artist native to NEPA. She began creating art at an early age— her mother jokes that her favorite childhood toy was safety scissors and paper. A naturally curious person, Brady has explored many different mediums, and is currently immersed in her latest project, RainbowTree. RainbowTree started after buying a bag of wood slices from a craft store on a whim. Inspired by a dragon fruit, colorful coasters with her signature design were born. “I love the idea of making little works of art that can also be practical and used every day.”
Brady’s current use of bright colors is a product of going through a period of time where her life was devoid of color and creativity. After a few years of personal challenges and struggles, there was an extended period of time where she didn’t even pick up a pencil. Having always used art as a means of expression and healing, her return to creating has been therapeutic and a source of joy. Inspired by her own journey, Brady is currently taking prerequisite classes with the intention of beginning her Masters in Art Therapy next year.
You can check out Brady’s work on her Instagram as well as her Etsy.
