Every Sunday, NEPA Creative turns the spotlight on some awesome creatives. This week, we have Poets Live!
Poets Live is a group of poets out of Scranton, Pennsylvania. It all started at the Bog with a glass of whiskey and a discussion between Robert Philbin and Jacquelyn Purdy. Jacquelyn has been participating in readings for over 20 years and is always looking for a place to read. Luckily, Bob opened the doors to the Bog for readings.
On November 14, 2017, Poets Live held its first reading. In attendance, only five poets and a handful of listeners. Slowly, this family of poets has grown. The poets themselves have blossomed from shy first-time readers to confident artists.
Last November, Poets Live came out with their first anthology published by Local Gems Press, a small publishing house out of New York. You can catch this group at one of their local venues in NEPA. Poets Live is on Facebook, Twitter (@LivePoets) and Instagram (@poetslive). New poets are encouraged to come and participate.
