Every Sunday, we turn the spotlight on some great creatives. This week, we have Eugene Lucas (he/him)!

Eugene, also known as Gino, is an artist living in North Scranton who has a passion for creating. When he was younger, you could catch him at hardcore shows or skating around town. Now, he enjoys spending time with his family, strumming his guitar, taking photographs and painting.

With the passing of his mother, Eugene felt the need to stop being quiet. He wanted to create something to outlive him. So one day, he decided to put his camera to use and started taking pictures. About two months ago, he discovered he also had a hidden talent: painting.

Eugene simply loves to create. He enjoys making people feel comfortable in a photoshoot and isn’t afraid to do what it takes to make people laugh and let their guard down. He wants the experience to be as memorable as the photographs.

For Eugene, if it’s a nice, sunny day, he’ll grab his camera and coffee and stroll about town. He pays attention to how the shadows are hitting and the way people walk in and out of them. Sometimes, the downtown vibes fuel his creativity.

He’s inspired by people from all walks of life, including his fiance and all the beautiful things she does, his daughter’s beautiful spirit, and his future stepsons. He’s able to find beauty in everyone.

Being creative is everything to Eugene. He feels it’s important to say something. While some people use words, he uses his camera and a paintbrush.
